Mr. Rogers asks for Congressional Money for PBS in 1969 .. I'd be his neighbor anyday!

Net neutrality gets pwn3d...

From the BBC...

US politicians have rejected attempts to enshrine the principle of net neutrality in legislation.

Some fear the decision will mean net providers start deciding on behalf of customers which websites and services they can visit and use.

The vote is a defeat for Google, eBay and Amazon which wanted the net neutrality principle protected by law.

All three mounted vigorous lobbying campaigns prior to the vote in the House of Representatives.

A big thanks goes to all the ass-clowns in DC... And an even bigger thanks goes to all the idiots that continue to vote Republican... At what point will you have lost enough things in life, (civil liberties, net neutrality, abortion) before you realize it's starting to look like government is way to involved in your personal life. Morons.

Detox clinic to help addicted gamers

From cnn.com...

Video games may look innocent, but they can be as addictive as gambling or drugs -- and just as hard to kick, says Keith Bakker, director of Amsterdam-based Smith & Jones Addiction Consultants.

Bakker already has treated 20 video game addicts, aged 13 to 30, since January. Some show withdrawal symptoms, such as shaking and sweating, when they look at a computer.

His detox program begins in July. It will run four to eight weeks, including discussions with therapists and efforts to build patients' interests in alternative activities.

"We have kids who don't know how to communicate with people face-to-face because they've spent the last three years talking to somebody in Korea through a computer," Bakker said. "Their social network has completely disappeared."

Bullshit... Have you ever sucked dick for video games? That's an addiction... I'll bet you've never sucked dick for marijuana either?!? Nope, not an addiction... But good for them, I hope they make a lot of money... Idiots.

Boost your internet bandwith....

Over at Fluxiontech.com (Link) there's an excellent post on tweaking Windows to get the most out of your internet connection....
First off is tweaking for XP...

The following tweak applies only to Windows XP Professional edition.

The default system behavior is that all 100% bandwidth is available, however, if there is a running application that indicates to the OS it needs to send high priority/real time data, then as long as it has the socket open, Windows XP will restrict “best effort” traffic to 80% of the bandwidth so that high priority traffic can be accommodated. Basically, applications can make this request to the operating system for QoS support using the QoS application programming interfaces (APIs) in Windows and this only applies if a specific app is requesting QoS.

There are also tweaks for removing the limits on TCP connection attempts & some recommended settings for Windows 2000 / XP... Very good read ... These are not tweaks for amatuers ... You should probably know a little about what you're doing before you start getting into this buisness...

Keepin' it real... NerdCore Style....

From crapbots.com...

The term “Nerdcore” refers to both a sub-genre of
hip-hop music that is created by self-professed
nerds and to the subculture that has grown out of
that style of music. The subject matter covered in
Nerdcore Hip-Hop is diverse but generally songs
focus on interests that in the past, mainstream
America would consider geeky such as video
games, computer programming, cult films, the
internet, anime, comic books and science and
technology. The predominant theme behind the
Nerdcore movement is one of Nerd pride and
empowerment. It seems likely that as the industrial
age gives way to the coming Information age the
message behind Nerdcore will grow to reflect the
dominant cultural attitude towards the intellectual
and imaginative individuals known as nerds. In the
past geeks and nerds were the exception to the rule
but today most Americans under 30 have at least
one hobby or interest that once would have been considered geeky. As
these interests become more socially acceptable nerds are becoming
serious contributors to, and consumers of modern pop culture. As such,
the stigma that has long been associated with nerdy pursuits is falling away
and it is being replaced by a new feeling of nerd acceptance. This new
found respect for nerd culture has created an environment in which geeks
and nerds felt free enough to express themselves in the manner of their
choosing; in this case, Hip Hop.
